On February 13, 2025, at approximately 9:12 p.m., the Richardson Police Department responded to a 911 call from a residence in the 1100 block of Wake Drive. The caller, identified as 81-year-old Douglas Ervin, advised that he had shot and killed a roommate.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended Ervin without incident. Inside the home, they discovered the body of 59-year-old Gregory Johnson, who had been fatally shot. A third individual was found inside the residence but was not harmed.

A shotgun was recovered at the scene. Douglas Ervin has been charged with murder, and the Richardson Police Department’s detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
