The Take Me Home program helps individuals with cognitive disabilities who may have difficulty communicating during emergencies. This service is designed for people who may struggle to speak or identify themselves. The Richardson Police Department offers this free service to enhance public safety for individuals who may become lost or wander away from a caretaker or home.

To enroll, individuals or their families complete an online form, providing details like the person’s height, weight, identifying information, and emergency contacts. A recent photo is also submitted for the record. This information is stored in a secure database accessible only to public safety personnel.

In an emergency, if a participant is encountered by a police officer, the officer can access the database to receive a picture and information that will help reunite the person with family.

If you have questions, call 972-744-4955 or email TakeMeHome@cor.gov
